What VowLedger does

Quote scanning runs inside your browser. It identifies likely totals, hidden-cost categories and restrictive contract language, then keeps detected values linked to their source text. The comparison workspace normalizes proposals into total cost, cost per guest, inclusions and questions to ask. The venue finder turns one total budget into a 50/30/20 starting plan and ranks named U.S. event venues using location, estimated rental cost, guest fit and the priorities a couple selects.

What the data covers

• 10,474 weddings in the national benchmark study.
• 16,862 named U.S. event venues from OpenStreetMap contributors and Overture Maps Foundation.
• 74 source-linked public pricing snapshots for named venues.
• State data and 28 metro markets used when an exact comparable price is unavailable.

How to use a result

A result outside its local planning range is a prompt to investigate, not a verdict about a vendor or a statistical outlier claim. Venue fit scores preserve over-budget options with a point penalty instead of silently removing them. “Supported,” “possible” and “verify” labels distinguish available evidence from inferences and unknowns. Date, location, staffing, guest count, service level, minimums and included rentals can explain large differences.

Accuracy standard

Wedding prices, availability, local tax treatment and contract terms can change, so no planning website can truthfully promise that every displayed value is 100% accurate. VowLedger separates confirmed source facts, calculated values, estimates and unknowns instead of presenting them as equivalent.

Before venue quotes can be ranked, the comparison workspace requires the user to review every detected charge against its source line. “100% reviewed” describes that review progress; it does not prove that OCR found every clause, that a vendor disclosed every fee or that a public price is still current. The signed vendor proposal remains the authoritative source.

Transparency

Every major benchmark links to its source and records when it was checked. Local category adjustments are deliberately smaller for services that are less tied to geography, and guest count changes only categories that typically scale with quantity. Public venue prices are snapshots and may change. Directory details can be incomplete. VowLedger clearly labels modeled ranges, published rentals and guest-adjusted package estimates so unlike prices are not presented as equivalent.

Editorial independence

VowLedger is an independent planning project, not a venue marketplace, wedding vendor or booking agency. Vendors cannot pay to change a benchmark, improve a search rank or remove a benchmark signal. A directory link does not mean VowLedger endorses or is affiliated with that venue.

How information is maintained

Each pricing source records its publication year and the date it was checked. Named public venue prices retain their original source and pricing basis. The event-venue directory is periodically synchronized from OpenStreetMap and Overture Maps, with U.S. geography and source confidence checked before inclusion. Corrections are verified against the original source before publication.
